The Hinman Research Building in Atlanta, Georgia, is an older building that was restored and adapted for new use. P.M. Heffernan designed the original in 1939. Heffernan later directed Georgia Tech's School of Architecture, from 1956 to 1976.
The restoration, rehabilitation and adaptive reuse was completed in 2011 by office dA with Lord, Aeck & Sargent. It cost $9.5 million and covers about 35,000 square feet (3,250 square meters). The Beck Group was the construction manager.
The reworked building now holds graduate-level architecture studios, computer labs and interdisciplinary research labs. The building stays in use for teaching and research. ArchDaily describes it as a freestanding research facility and lists steel as its material. The listing credits office dA, the Boston practice later known as NADAAA, with the design side of the project.
This building has no Wikipedia article. Facts come from ArchDaily, NADAAA.
