Hill House in Helensburgh was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh for the publisher Walter Blackie of Blackie and Son. The infobox gives 1902, and the text says it was designed in 1902 to 1904. Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh designed and made interior elements, but her overall contribution is debated.

The exterior is asymmetrical and austere, drawing on Scottish vernacular and baronial forms and influenced by Pugin, and the interior was planned before the exterior. Walls are grey harling, originally Portland cement, under a slate roof. Features include dark wood panelling, stained glass luminaires, a white drawing room with rose stencilling and a polished steel dining room fireplace.

Water ingress was a problem from the start. It was donated to the National Trust for Scotland in 1982, and a protective Box enclosure was installed in 2019 and is expected to stay until 2028. The Trust maintains it, and it is open to the public.
