The Herning Museum of Contemporary Art in Herning, Denmark, was designed by Steven Holl and opened in its new building on September 9, 2009. The article names no client and no architectural style, and gives no dimensions or cost. Seen from above, the plan resembles shirt sleeves, a nod to the shirt factory that first housed the museum.
The exterior is white concrete with a fabric-like texture. Inside are a permanent exhibition, temporary galleries, an auditorium seating 150, rehearsal rooms, a media library and offices. The building is also designed to accommodate a concert hall.
The museum was founded in 1976 and opened in 1977 in Angligården, the former Angli shirt factory of Aage Damgaard, which C. F. Møller had designed. The article lists hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Mondays, with occasional closures. It does not give admission fees.
