The Harry Jack Gray Center is a U-shaped building on the University of Hartford campus in West Hartford, Connecticut. TSKP Studio designed it as 100,000 square feet (about 9,300 square meters) of new construction joined to 45,000 square feet (about 4,200 square meters) of renovation. It began as a library expansion and grew into a broader cultural center.
The library sits at the center of the U. The wings link to the music and art schools and frame the campus green, with arcades along the perimeter and a skylight at each wing's entry. The building holds all the university libraries, the Museum of American Political Life, an art gallery, a conference center and a bookstore.
Architecture students work here too. The university lists architecture studios, a computer lab and a 3D printing lab in the Gray Center, among the spaces used by its College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture.
