The Harbin Opera House, also called the Harbin Grand Theatre, stands on Cultural Island in Harbin. MAD Architects, led by Ma Yansong, designed it. Groundbreaking was in April 2011, and it opened in 2015. The article gives no client. It describes zen aesthetics inside and a form that resembles a tented yurt or snowdrift outside.

White aluminum panels clad the exterior. Inside, the walls are white, with skylights and timber. The complex covers 850,349 square feet (79,000 m2). It has a Grand Theatre with 1,538 seats and a smaller theatre with 414 seats. A grand lobby, carved facade paths and a rooftop viewing area complete it.

Awards include ArchDaily's 2016 Building of the Year and the 2016 WAN Performing Spaces Award.
