Guildford Cathedral was designed by Edward Maufe, chosen from 183 entries in a 1932 competition. The article names no client, but a Cathedral Committee selected him. The infobox gives 1936 to 1961, while the text says it was consecrated on May 17, 1961 and finally completed in 1965. The infobox lists Neo-Gothic and Art Deco, and Pevsner calls it Curvilinear Gothic.

The walls are red brick, local and Sussex, with pale Somerset limestone pillars and white Italian marble floors. The tower is 160 feet (49 m) tall and carries twelve bells and a 15-foot gilded angel. A Buy-a-Brick campaign ran from 1952 to 1961.

It was listed Grade II* in 1981. The organ was refurbished during a renovation from 2015 to 2017. Filming for The Omen took place there in 1976. A glass pane was vandalized in January 2024. The article gives no hours.
