The Guggenheim Hermitage Museum was a small gallery inside The Venetian on the Las Vegas Strip, designed by Rem Koolhaas. The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation ran it in collaboration with the State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg. It opened on October 7, 2001, and closed on May 11, 2008. The article gives no style or materials.
The gallery covered 7,660 square feet (712 square meters) in four rooms. It was nicknamed the Jewel Box, in contrast to the larger Guggenheim Las Vegas, the Big Box, also by Koolhaas. It opened with 45 paintings, including works by Monet, Picasso, Renoir and van Gogh.
It staged 10 exhibitions and drew about 1.1 million visitors, roughly 95 percent of them tourists. Weak local support and falling attendance led to its closure. Admission was $15.
