The Grote Kerk of Dordrecht, officially the Church of Our Lady, is in the Brabantine Gothic style. A chapel in Dordrecht is mentioned in 1122. The Mariakoor, the oldest standing part, was built in 1284 and 1285, and construction of the church ran until about 1470. The tower was begun in 1339 and left unfinished in 1506. Everaert Spoorwater, from the southern Netherlands, led the reconstruction after the fire of June 29, 1457.

The Geuzen ransacked the church in 1572, and it became Protestant. Jan Janszoon made the clock mechanism in 1624, and four Baroque clock faces were added to the tower in 1626.

Visitors can climb 275 steps to the top of the tower for a small fee. The church has 67 bells, including the bourdon, the largest swinging bell in the Netherlands, cast in 1999.
