The Great Mosque of Asmara was designed by Guido Ferrazza. Benito Mussolini initiated the project to impress the Muslim population of the Italian colony. The infobox gives completion as 1938, while the text says 1936. The infobox lists Rationalist, Neoclassical and Islamic styles, and the text describes a blend of these.
A single fluted minaret of Roman design is visible across the city, with two platforms and two balconies in Italian rococo or late baroque style. A neoclassical loggia in three parts sits below it. Dekemhare travertine forms the double columns, Carrara marble the capitals and mihrab, and black stone slabs in geometric patterns cover the front sahn. The article gives no dimensions, and the infobox lists three domes, marked maybe more.
It stands in Asmara, which became UNESCO's first modernist city listing in 2017. The mosque is active, and its interior is open only to Muslims.
