The Great Glasshouse at the National Botanic Garden of Wales was designed by Foster and Partners. It stands in the Tywi valley at Llanarthne, close to the site of Middleton Hall. The garden opened to the public on May 24, 2000, and Prince Charles opened it officially on July 21, 2000. Foster won the Gold Medal for Architecture at the 2000 National Eisteddfod for it. The article gives no construction dates and does not name a style.

The glass roof has 785 panes. The article describes it as the largest structure of its kind in the world, though it gives two size figures. Biomass recycling heats the glasshouses.

Inside are plants from Mediterranean-climate regions, grouped by Chile, Western Australia, South Africa, California, the Canary Islands and the Mediterranean.
