The Great Buddha of Thailand sits at Wat Muang in Wiset Chai Chan, Ang Thong Province. Phra Kru Vibul Arjarakhun, the first abbot of Wat Muang, ordered it, and it was built to honor King Bhumibol. Construction began in 1990 and finished in 2008, after 18 years of work.

The statue is 302 feet (92 meters) high and 210 feet (63 meters) wide. It is concrete, painted gold, and shows the Buddha seated in the Maravijaya attitude. It is the tallest statue in Thailand and second tallest in Southeast Asia. Donations from Buddhists paid the cost of about 104.2 million baht.

Nearby sculptures show gods, Thai kings and events of the Siamese-Burmese War. A park around the statue grows lotus flowers. The sources give no designer, style or visiting details, so those entries are assumptions.
