The Georgia Guidestones stood in Elbert County, Georgia, about 7 miles (11 kilometers) north of Elberton. A man using the pseudonym Robert C. Christian commissioned them through the Elberton Granite Finishing Company. Congressman Doug Barnard unveiled them on March 22, 1980.

The monument had six granite slabs, each 19 feet 3 inches (5.9 meters) tall, with a combined weight of 237,746 pounds (107,800 kilograms). It had astronomical features and ten guidelines carved in eight languages.

A bomb damaged the monument on July 6, 2022. The capstone was damaged and a slab was destroyed, and the remaining stones were removed. The article names no designer, and it lists six granite slabs as the monument's structure.
