The Georgia Aquarium stands in downtown Atlanta on land donated by The Coca-Cola Company, next to Atlantic Station and north of Centennial Olympic Park. Bernard Marcus announced the project in November 2001, and his foundation gave $250 million, with $40 million more from corporations. The article names no architect or style. It opened on November 23, 2005, after 27 months of construction, as a nonprofit aquarium.

The exterior is blue metal and glass, and a 100-foot (30 m) acrylic tunnel runs through the galleries. It originally had 550,000 square feet of covered space. Tanks now hold more than 11 million gallons of water. The largest, for whale sharks, holds 6.3 million gallons. Ocean Voyager measures 284 by 126 feet.

It was the world's largest aquarium until 2012 and is now the largest in the United States. Its whale sharks came from Taiwan. Attendance reached 10 million by June 2009. The article gives no hours or prices.
