Ge Hekai Hall sits at the center of the Wenzhou-Kean University campus in Wenzhou, China, which follows a master plan by Michael Graves Architecture and Design. Moore Ruble Yudell was the design architect, and Tongji Architectural Design (Group) was the executive architect. It has 15,800 square meters (about 170,000 square feet).
Open-plan design studios sit above a two-story base of flexible lofts holding class labs, a library, maker spaces and offices. The base is clad in dark gray granite, and the upper structure is white ultra-high-performance concrete. Grand porches face the campus on the north and south sides.
The central hall has stadium seating and is the campus's largest shared venue for events. The hall houses the College of Architecture, the College of Design and the School of Computer Science. It is LEED Gold comparable and won two Chicago Athenaeum awards.
