The Gate to the East, also called the Gate of the Orient or the Pants Building, stands at 199 Xinggang Street in the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park. RMJM is the listed architect, and the article names no client or style. It is described as the second tallest building in Suzhou, behind Suzhou IFS. It marks the old town's east-west axis meeting Jinji Lake.

Construction began on June 7, 2004, and the building was completed on May 13, 2016. The infobox gives a budget of $700 million. The height is 990.2 feet (301.8 m) in the infobox, and the building has 68 floors. The article gives its size as 340,000 square meters in one place and a floor area of 450,000 square meters in another.

A high-rise tower rises over a low-rise base holding offices, serviced apartments, a luxury hotel and a shopping mall. Its design drew mockery from Chinese netizens and Western media for resembling a pair of trousers.
