The Gartenpalais Liechtenstein in Vienna was designed by Domenico Egidio Rossi for Prince Johann Adam Andreas von Liechtenstein. The shell was finished in 1700, and the building was completed in the early 1700s. The style is Baroque, designed as a mix of city and country house in the Roman style.
Décor is by Marcantonio Franceschini, Antonio Bellucci, Andrea Pozzo and Johann Michael Rottmayr. Giovanni Giuliani made the garden vases and statues after plans by Giuseppe Mazza. The garden was laid out as a classic Baroque garden and redesigned in neoclassical style around 1820 by Joseph Kornhäusel.
From 1805 to 1938 it housed the family collection, open to the public. Regular museum operations ended in January 2012. Works are now shown only during the Long Night of Museums, for registered groups and at rented events.
