The Fondation Beyeler in Riehen was designed by Renzo Piano for the art dealers Ernst Beyeler and Hildy Beyeler, who created the foundation in 1982. Peter Zumthor designed the expansion, selected in 2016. Groundbreaking was in September 1994, and the museum opened on October 18, 1997. The infobox gives only 1982, which refers to the foundation.
The article names no architectural style. It describes four porphyry walls from Patagonia, each 377 feet (115 m) long and 23 feet (7 m) apart, a glass roof white-enameled on the reverse and glazed facades. A 1999 extension of 39 feet (12 m) added 4,930 square feet (458 square meters).
Zumthor's expansion added a gallery, a performance pavilion and an office building, and the text dates it to 2026, though it cites April 2020 figures for the floor area. The reported cost is $144.9 million. The article gives no hours.
