The Flight 93 National Memorial in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, honors the 40 passengers and crew of United Flight 93. Congress established it in 2002. Paul Murdoch Architects, with Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects, won the design competition in 2005. The National Park Service governs it. The first phase was dedicated on September 10, 2011.
The memorial covers about 2,200 acres, with a 400-acre bowl-shaped memorial site. A Wall of Names of polished white granite panels stands beneath the flight path. A visitor center opened in 2015. The Tower of Voices, dedicated in 2018, is 93 feet (28 meters) tall and holds 40 wind chimes, one for each person aboard.
The impact site is planted with wildflowers, and a clearing in the trees marks the flight path. The entrance is on U.S. Route 30. In 2023 the memorial drew 377,810 visitors.
