The Fine Arts and Architecture Complex stands on the south end of the University of Utah campus in Salt Lake City, at 375 S 1530 E. Its architecture half, the Architecture Building, connects to the Fine Arts building. One source gives 1970 as the completion year and another gives 1971. The architect is not named in the sources found.
The complex is about 140,000 square feet and was designed in the Brutalist style, which is rare in Utah. It was built to bring the art and architecture departments into one central location. It holds studio workshops, exhibition galleries for each department and a museum. It won the AIA Utah Chapter's 25 Year Award in 2006.
The Architecture Building holds the Dean's Office, faculty offices and studios, a student services office, a coffee shop, a plotter room and a workshop called the CAP Shop. It is open to the public from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays.
This building has no Wikipedia article. Facts come from Utah Heritage / Utah Chapter AIA project page, University of Utah College of Architecture + Planning.
