Fatehpur Sikri, in Agra district, Uttar Pradesh, was founded by Emperor Akbar in 1571 and was the Mughal capital until 1585. The article names no architect and says the architecture was modeled on Timurid forms, with Gujarati influences and mixed Hindu and Muslim domestic elements. It is a palace city rather than a single building.

Red sandstone is the main material. The Jama Masjid's epigraph dates it to AH 979 (1571 to 1572), and the Buland Darwaza, c. 1576 to 1577, is 177 feet (54 m) high per the infobox, though one section gives 150 feet (46 m). The Panch Mahal has five stories and 176 columns.

The Tomb of Salim Chishti is white marble. Akbar left in 1585, and the city was completely abandoned by 1610. The British set up an administrative centre there from 1803 to 1850. UNESCO inscribed it in 1986. The article gives two figures for the fort wall, 6 km and 5 miles.
