Évry Cathedral was designed by the Swiss architect Mario Botta for the Diocese of Évry-Corbeil-Essonnes. The first stone was laid at Easter 1991, construction began in 1992 and work was completed in 1995. It was consecrated on May 2, 1996. The infobox gives groundbreaking in 1995, which conflicts with the text.
The infobox lists Modernist, and Botta drew on Byzantine and Romanesque models, including San Vitale in Ravenna and Le Corbusier's Notre-Dame-du-Haut. Two reinforced concrete cylinders are clad in brick, forming a truncated cylinder with an inclined roof 126 feet (38.4 m) across outside. Movable roof panels control the light. The cost was 10.7 million euros.
Inside, the nave is semicircular with theater-style seating for 800 and a total capacity of 1,500. The altar and baptismal font are Carrara marble. The Tree of Life stained glass stands behind the altar. Pope John Paul II visited in 1997. The article gives no hours.
