Dresden Hauptbahnhof was built to a design combining entries by Ernst Giese and Paul Weidner and by Arwed Roßbach, with Giese and Weidner leading construction for the Saxon government. Norman Foster designed the renovated roof. The infobox gives an opening on April 23, 1898, but the text says the whole building went into operation on April 16, 1898.

The infobox lists Historicism and modernism. The article describes Elbe sandstone masonry and a platform hall 197 feet (60 m) wide and 610 feet (186 m) long. Foster's roof uses Teflon-coated glass fiber membranes covering about 355,000 square feet (33,000 square meters).

The air raid of February 1945 burned the station, and flooding in August 2002 closed it. Restoration ran from 2001 to 2006, and the inauguration was on November 10, 2006. It handles about 60,000 passengers a day. The article gives no hours.
