The Dormition Cathedral on Cathedral Square in the Moscow Kremlin was rebuilt by Aristotele Fioravanti for Ivan III. Kryvtsov and Myshkin began an earlier rebuild in 1472, which collapsed in 1474. The original church was begun in 1326 under Ivan I and consecrated on August 4, 1327. The rebuild ran from 1475 to 1479, and the infobox gives consecration in 1479.

The infobox lists the style as Russian. The cathedral is limestone and white-stone blocks, with larger-than-standard bricks in the upper portion. The article gives no dimensions.

Fires struck in 1518, 1547, 1682 and 1737, and it was looted in 1612. Ivan the Terrible was crowned there in 1547, and Patriarch Tikhon was installed there in 1917. It became a museum after the Revolution and returned to the church in 1990. It is part of the Moscow Kremlin Museums and holds periodic religious services. The article gives no hours.
