Dokk1 stands on the Aarhus waterfront at Hack Kampmanns Plads, next to the Custom House. Schmidt Hammer Lassen and Kristine Jensen designed it. Aarhus Municipality and Realdania financed it at a stated cost of 2.1 billion kroner. Groundbreaking was on June 8, 2011, and it was inaugurated on June 20, 2015. The article calls the style neo-futuristic and names no owner.

The building is heptagonal. A metal disc floats above a glass prism, and the glass library is transparent on all sides. Total floor area is 60,000 square meters, with 17,500 for the library, which the article calls the largest public library in Scandinavia. Light rail trains run through and under the building.

A bronze bell above the library stairs can be rung by parents after a birth at Aarhus University Hospital. Water damage to wall boards began in 2016. It won the 2016 IFLA Public Library of the Year. The article gives no hours.
