Design South is the building at 850 S. Forest Mall on Arizona State University's Tempe campus that houses architecture and design disciplines. ASU's design history timeline says the architecture program moved into its own building in 1970, after years of holding classes in other campus buildings. That building belongs to the Art and Architecture Complex, covers 50,000 square feet (4,645 square meters) and is now Design South.
Design South stands next to Design North at 810 S. Forest Mall. A space called the bridge joins the two buildings and serves as a meeting and studio review space for students and faculty. ASU's tour page lists student studios, a research lab and design research studios.
The buildings also include a rooftop area for testing solar power and daylighting, photography and video services, and a slide and media library. The Herberger Institute Research Center and student advising are in the south building.
