Derby Cathedral was rebuilt in Neo-Classical style by James Gibbs in 1725, keeping the Gothic tower, and Sebastian Comper designed the retroquire. The article names no client, but the vicar, Dr Michael Hutchinson, decided to demolish the church, and the Mayor and Corporation of Derby led the fundraising.
The tower is Ashover Grit sandstone and stands 212 feet (65 m) tall. The infobox dates it to about 1530, and the text says 1510 to 1532. Robert Bakewell made the wrought iron chancel screen. The infobox gives a 6th-century founding, but the text says about 943. The infobox gives later renovations in 1969 to 1975 and 2015 to 2016, while the text dates the retroquire to 1967 to 1972.
It became a cathedral by Order in Council on July 1, 1927. A carillon was installed in 1931 and plays at 9 a.m., noon and 6 p.m. The article gives no visiting hours.
