Council House 2, known as CH2, is an office building at 240 Little Collins Street in Melbourne, beside the original Council House. The City of Melbourne is architect, owner and tenant, working with Mick Pearce, the principal design architect, and DesignInc. Construction began in 2004 and it opened in August 2006. The article names no style. The floor area is 134,940 square feet (12,536 m²) over 10 floors.
The design draws on a termite mound's cooling and uses natural convection, ventilation stacks and night purge. Features include wavy precast concrete ceilings, recycled timber louvres on the west facade and shower towers on the south. It was the first Australian purpose-built office with a six-star Green Star rating.
Construction cost $51 million. The article says electricity use fell 85 percent against the old building. It gives no visitor access.
