The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas stands at 3708 South Las Vegas Boulevard on the Strip. Friedmutter Group was executive architect with Arquitectonica, and David Rockwell designed the interiors. The original developer was 3700 Associates. It was announced in April 2004, broke ground on October 25, 2005 and opened on December 15, 2010. At $3.9 billion it was the most expensive Strip resort built to that point. The article calls the style modern, with no theme.
The 8.5-acre site has two towers, Chelsea at 52 stories and Boulevard at 50, with 3,033 rooms. The project used 41,000 tons of steel. A 100,000-square-foot casino, the Chandelier lounge with two million crystals and the Marquee nightclub are inside.
The developer defaulted in 2008, and Deutsche Bank took the property. Blackstone bought it for $1.7 billion in 2014, and MGM Resorts operates it. The article gives no hours.
