The City Gate in Valletta was designed by Renzo Piano, who first planned the entrance redevelopment in 1988. The project was shelved by 1992 and revived in 2008. The infobox names the Government of Malta as owner, and the text does not. The previous gate was demolished from May 2 to 5, 2011, and the infobox and text agree on construction from 2011 to 2014.

The article describes a breach in the bastions flanked by large stone blocks, separated from the curtain walls by steel blades. It uses limestone and steel, with about 12,000 cubic meters of Maltese limestone. It names no style or dimensions.

The gate was part of a wider project that turned the ruins of the Royal Opera House into an open-air theater and added a new Parliament House. The art installation Prospettiva was inaugurated in October 2014. The text gives 1853 both for a third gate and for a demolition. The article gives no access details.
