The Citadel of Namur stands at the confluence of the Sambre and Meuse rivers. The infobox and text date the original citadel to 937, though the text also says it dates from the Roman era. Menno van Coehoorn designed its current form, and Vauban improved it after the 1692 siege of Namur. It reached its present extent between 1631 and 1675, and the article names no client or style.
The infobox lists stone. The highest point is 623 feet (190 m). The Terra Nova section is distinct from the Médiane fort built next to it from 1542.
It was rebuilt several times and disestablished as a military post in 1891, when a ring of forts replaced it. It became the Fortified Position of Namur in the 1930s and held a protected command post. It is classified as a Walloon Major Heritage site. The infobox says it is open to the public, and the article gives no hours.
