The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Jerusalem's Old City stands directly beside the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, on the site of the old church of St. Mary Minor. Paul Ferdinand Groth built it from designs by Friedrich Adler. The lead gives construction as 1893 to 1898 and the history section as 1892 to 1898, and the article does not say which is correct.
An Ottoman sultan gave the site to Prussia's King William I during the 1869 Suez Canal inauguration. Kaiser Wilhelm II dedicated the church on Reformation Day in 1898, during a visit to Jerusalem. The article gives no style, materials or dimensions.
The church and the adjoining provost building are the seat of the Provost of the German Protestant Ministries. Congregations worship in Arabic, German, Danish and English. An archaeological park called Durch die Zeiten, below the nave, opened in November 2012.
