The Christ the King monument in Almada was designed by António Lino for the base and Francisco Franco de Sousa for the statue. The Portuguese Episcopate managed the project, with help from Apostleship of Prayer members. The cornerstone was placed in 1949, on-site work began in 1952 and it was inaugurated on May 17, 1959.
The infobox lists modern architecture and a total height of 361 feet (110 m), with a base of 269 feet (82 m) and a figure of 92 feet (28 m). The text says the statue is 260 feet (79.3 m) high, which conflicts. It names masonry stone and brick facades but not the statue's material.
It reopened in 2001 after restoration, and pilgrim facilities were added in 2004 and 2005. An observation deck sits at 269 feet (82 m). Visitors arrive by car, by train to Pragal or by ferry to Cacilhas. The article gives no hours.
