Chillon Castle at Veytaux, between Montreux and Villeneuve on Lake Geneva, stands on a small, steep-sided oval limestone rock. The article places the square donjon in the 11th century and says its commissioner is in question. The infobox lists Jacques de Saint-Georges, while the text credits Master James of Saint George with windows added in 1266 and 1267.
The article calls it a good model of feudal architecture and gives no style, materials or dimensions. It has four great halls and three courtyards. It was a summer home of the Counts of Savoy.
François de Bonivard was imprisoned there for six years from 1530. A Bernese army captured it in 1536, and French forces used it as a munitions depot after Vaud expelled the Bernese in 1798. Systematic restoration began in the late 19th century. The canton of Vaud owns it, and adult entry is 15 Swiss francs.
