Château d'Abbadia in Hendaye was designed by Eugène Viollet-le-Duc according to the infobox, and the text also credits Edmond Duthoit. The explorer Antoine d'Abbadie patronized the build, and the infobox lists the French Academy of Sciences as owner without explaining its role. The infobox and text agree on construction from 1864 to 1879.

The article calls the style neogothic, with an exterior it describes as Irish Gothic Revival and an interior mixing Gothic and orientalist elements. Materials include woodwork, staff, earthenware, plaster painting and textiles, with polychrome interior decoration. The entrance vestibule is 33 feet (10 m) high, and the Moorish smoking room is about 8 feet (2.4 m) across.

The article describes the scientific collections, archives and furniture as authentic. It is classified as a historic monument and designated a Maison des Illustres. It gives no hours, admission or post-1879 restoration history.
