The Centennial Bridge crosses the Culebra Cut of the Panama Canal, near the Pedro Miguel locks. T.Y. Lin International and Louis Berger Group designed it, with architects Elle Sokolow and Miguel Rosales and structural engineering by Leonhardt, Andrä and Partner. Panama's Ministry of Public Works is the client. The contract was awarded in March 2002, and the bridge was inaugurated on August 15, 2004.
It opened to traffic on September 2, 2005. The cable-stayed bridge is 3,451 feet (1,052 meters) long, and its main span is 1,378 feet (420 meters). Two towers rise 604 feet (184 meters), and the clearance above the canal is 262 feet (80 meters).
The bridge carries six traffic lanes and has an earthquake-resistant design. The article does not state its materials.
