The Cathedral of the Annunciation, or Evangelismos, stands in the Tahrir Square neighborhood of Alexandria. It is the patriarchal see of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa and serves the city's Greek community. Ermetes Pierotis conceived the church, and it was completed under Lukowitz. Its infobox gives the style as Neo-Byzantine and Neo-Gothic, though one author considers it Neo-Gothic rather than Neo-Byzantine.

Patriarch Hierotheus II laid the cornerstone on November 16, 1847, and it was consecrated on March 25, 1856. The church is 41.8 meters long, 23.6 meters wide and 32.4 meters high.

Iakovos Varoutis made the marble iconostasis, the patriarchal throne and the ambo. A clock by Frederick Dent came from London. A restoration was completed in December 2004 and funded by the Alexander S. Onassis Foundation.
