The Cathedral of St. Bartholomew in Plzeň was established around 1295, and the Czech king was its original patron. The Teutonic Order held the patronal right from 1322 to 1546, when Plzeň received it. Presbytery work began after 1342, and nave construction began around 1375. Erhard Bauer probably changed the plan after 1476, and the roof was replaced in 1528 after a fire. Josef Mocker led a reconstruction from 1879 to 1883. The style is Gothic, and the building is hewn sandstone.
