Casa Malaparte on Punta Massullo, on the eastern side of Capri, was built for the writer Curzio Malaparte, with work starting in 1937. The infobox credits Malaparte and Adalberto Libera, while the text credits Malaparte, who built it with the stonemason Adolfo Amitrano, and does not mention Libera.
It is a red masonry house 105 feet (32 m) above the sea, with a curved white freestanding wall on the roof. Reverse pyramidal stairs lead to the roof patio, and a marble sunken bath is among the interior features. The sea approach has 99 steps. Godard filmed Contempt there in 1963.
Malaparte died in 1957, and the house was abandoned, vandalized and damaged. It was donated to the Giorgio Ronchi Foundation in 1972 and restored from the late 1980s, mainly by his great-nephew Niccolò Rositani. It is used for study and cultural events, and reaching it takes about a 90-minute walk from Capri's Piazzetta.
