The Cardboard Cathedral, or Transitional Cathedral, stands at Hereford and Madras streets in Christchurch. Shigeru Ban designed it with Warren and Mahoney, and he gave his services free. The Anglican Diocese of Christchurch administers it. It replaced ChristChurch Cathedral, damaged in the 2011 earthquake. The article describes an A-frame form.

Construction began on July 24, 2012. It opened on August 6, 2013 and was dedicated on August 15. The building uses cardboard tubes about 60 centimeters across, laminated timber, steel, a polycarbonate roof, a concrete slab and shipping containers for the walls. It seats about 700 and rises about 21 meters above the altar. Triangular stained-glass pieces replace a rose window.

It cost NZ million in the infobox and was designed to last 50 years. The article gives no hours.
