The Canadian National Vimy Memorial was designed by the Toronto sculptor Walter Seymour Allward for the Canadian Battlefields Memorials Commission, with France granting the land in 1922. Oscar Faber was hired in 1924 for the foundations. The infobox gives only the unveiling, July 26, 1936. The text says construction began in 1925 and took eleven years..
Seget limestone from Croatia is bonded to a reinforced cast-concrete frame. The foundation used about 11,000 tonnes of concrete, and the monument holds almost 6,000 tonnes of limestone. The front wall is 24 feet (7.3 m) high and the pylons rise 98 feet (30 m) above the platform.
It became a National Historic Site in 1996. A major restoration began in 2005, and Queen Elizabeth II rededicated it on April 9, 2007. Much of the site is closed because of unexploded munitions. The visitor centre is open seven days a week, and the article gives no hours.
