The Cafesjian Center for the Arts occupies the Yerevan Cascade in the Kentron District. David Hotson of New York designed the museum. Cascade construction began in 1971 and its first phase finished in 1980. Museum construction began in April 2005, and the center opened on November 17, 2009. The article calls it one of the most ambitious contemporary architecture projects in the former Soviet republics.

The Cascade has five levels and 572 stairs and rises 302 meters. The foundation put over 35 million dollars into its reconstruction. The Cafesjian Sculpture Garden fills the front gardens and terraces, and the galleries sit beneath the exterior staircase and fountains.

The New York Times called it a mad work of architectural megalomania and recovery.
