The Big Buddha, also known as the Tian Tan Buddha, stands at Ngong Ping near Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island, Hong Kong. Monks from Po Lin Monastery initiated the planning in 1973, and the British government granted the land. Construction began in 1990, and the statue was completed on December 29, 1993. The article does not name a designer.

The statue is 112 feet (34 meters) tall and weighs over 250 metric tons. It is bronze, built from 202 pieces over an internal steel framework.

Six devas surround the statue. The right hand is raised and the left hand is open. Visitors climb 268 steps to reach it, and three internal exhibit halls hold a relic said to contain some of Gautama Buddha's cremated remains.
