The Biblioteca Braidense in Milan occupies the Palazzo del Collegio di Brera, built by the Jesuits in the 17th century. The article names no architect for the palace, and gives no style, materials or exact dates. Giuseppe Piermarini designed the bookshelves in the Maria Teresa Hall. Maria Theresa of Austria created the library in 1770, and it opened in 1786 after the Jesuits were dissolved in 1773.
Collections include 898,377 printed volumes, 2,119 manuscripts and 2,368 incunabula, though the article gives no date for these figures. The Sala Manzoniana holds Alessandro Manzoni's manuscripts, donated in 1885. It received national library status in 1880.
It shares the building with the Brera Art Gallery, the Astronomical Observatory, the Botanical Gardens and the Brera Academy. It serves as a public library and the legal deposit archive for Milan and Lombardy. The article gives no hours.
