Bemis Laboratories, built in 1931, is the home of the Department of Architecture at Hampton University in Virginia. Hampton's engineering school lists the architecture facilities here. The school's headquarters is the Franklin W. Olin Engineering Building, where architecture shares computer lab facilities.
The ground floor holds the entrance lobby and the first-year studio. The second floor has a two-story atrium, the main office, the William H. Moses Architecture Library, a digital media lab, a large meeting room and the third-year studio. The third floor holds the second-, fourth- and fifth-year studios.
The digital media lab offers 2D and 3D software, an immersive multi-touch computer, large-format scanners and plotters, a laser cutter and 3D printers. The model shop is next door in the Armstrong-Slater building, which first housed the building trades program.
