The Basilica of Saint Castor in Koblenz was built from 817 to 836 under Archbishop Hetto of Trier, with the support of Emperor Louis the Pious, and dedicated on November 12, 836. The article names no architect. A reconstruction to the present form began around 1160 under Provost Buvo, and the church was consecrated again on July 27, 1208. The style is mainly Romanesque, with Carolingian origins.

It is about 191 feet (58.25 m) long and 83 feet (25.3 m) wide, with two western towers 144 feet (44 m) high. The three-story rounded apse has a 21-arch dwarf gallery. Star vaults were installed from 1496 to 1499, and a tuff veneer was applied from 1890 to 1894.

Negotiations for the Treaty of Verdun were held at the monastery in 842 and 843. A British air raid damaged it on November 6, 1944. It became a minor basilica in 1991. The article gives no hours.
