The Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Valletta replaced a church by Girolamo Cassar, built for the Carmelite Order after Grand Master Pierre de Monte granted the land in 1570. The infobox gives its dates as about 1570 to 1591 or 1608, and the text says it was completed in 1591 or 1608. Giuseppe Bonavia added a facade in 1852.

Bombing in March 1942 ruined the church, and the ruins were demolished. Ġużè Damato designed the present church, built from April 30, 1958 to June 15, 1981. The article calls the style Neoclassical, and the infobox lists limestone. Its oval dome is 138 feet (42 m) high.

The Marian image was crowned in 1881, the church was consecrated in 1886 and it became a minor basilica in 1895. It is part of Valletta's UNESCO World Heritage Site. The article gives no hours.
