The Basilica della Santa Casa in Loreto began in 1468 and was continued by Giuliano da Maiano, Giuliano da Sangallo and Donato Bramante. Luigi Vanvitelli designed the campanile. The article names no client. The text gives a 1468 start and a campanile built from 1750 to 1754, while the infobox says completed in the 16th century, which conflicts with the later campanile dates.

The article calls the style Late Gothic. It has stone walls for the Holy House and cedar of Lebanon wood for the 1922 statue. The basilica is 305 feet (93 m) long and 197 feet (60 m) wide, the campanile is 248 feet (75.6 m) high and the Holy House is about 31 by 13 feet (9.4 by 4.0 m).

Napoleonic troops sacked the church in 1797, and a 1921 fire destroyed the Madonna statue, replaced in 1922. It is a Marian shrine and pilgrimage destination. The article gives no hours.
