The Barnes Foundation has two buildings. Paul Philippe Cret designed the Merion building, which opened on March 19, 1925. Tod Williams and Billie Tsien Architects led the Philadelphia building, with Ballinger as associate and OLIN for landscape. The text dates construction to the fall of 2009 and the opening to May 19, 2012. The infobox's 1922 date is the foundation's charter year.

The article names no style. Merion has Cubist bas-reliefs by Jacques Lipchitz, African-inspired wrought iron and Enfield Pottery tile. The Philadelphia building replicates Merion's gallery scale and proportions and is LEED Platinum.

A court approved the move in 2004. Saint Joseph's University leased Merion in 2018, and it reopened in 2023 as the Frances M. Maguire Art Museum. Philadelphia is an art museum and education center. The article gives no hours.
