Aurora Place is an office tower in Sydney designed by the Renzo Piano Building Workshop with Innovarchi Architects and Lend Lease Design. Lendlease developed it. Construction began in 1998 and finished in 2000. The building sold in January 2001 for $485 million. The article names no style and describes an unusual geometric form with no panel parallel to any grid.
The tower has 41 floors and reaches 218 meters (715 feet) to the spire top, or 188 meters to the roof. Its floor area is 49,500 square meters. A milky white laminated fritted glass facade evokes a sail. The curved, twisted east facade was inspired by the Sydney Opera House and the harbour. Winter gardens with louvres sit at two corners.
It won the 2002 Property Council of Australia Rider Hunt Award and the 2004 Sir John Sulman Medal. On June 2, 2009, Alain Robert climbed it in a climate change protest.
