The Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art in Oslo is privately owned and was funded by the Thomas Fearnley Foundation and the Heddy and Nils Astrup Foundation. LPO architects designed the original building, which opened in autumn 1993, and Renzo Piano designed the current Tjuvholmen buildings, which opened on September 29, 2012. The text names no style.

The original building had about 26,900 square feet (2,500 square meters) enclosed, exhibition spaces on two floors, and gallery heights of 11 to 34 feet (3.5 to 10.5 m). The Tjuvholmen museum has about 45,200 square feet (4,200 square meters) across two buildings, within a sculpture park also designed by Piano.

In 2002 the museum bought Jeff Koons's Michael Jackson with Bubbles for 5.1 million dollars. Its 2012 sponsorship from the Norwegian arm of Lundin Petroleum drew public criticism. The article gives no hours.
